Problem:

In recent years Peugeot and Citroen have witnessed the growth of regional and national motor factors, and they continue to expand their areas of influence through merger and acquisition.

If we take Euro Car Parts as an example we can see how far they have come since launching as a single outlet in 1978. They now operate 179 outlets with an annual turnover of £430 million.

Since their recent acquisition by the American company LKQ, they have steadily and strategically bought into the collision market, with a turnover of £15 million in their first trading year and sales growing 10% month on month.

In order to ensure that Peugeot and Citroen could not only compete, but also grow profitable and sustainable businesses, it required a focused mind set and a change in the way that they did business.

Solution:

In April 2013, the Peugeot and Citroen brands made two major changes to their approach to trade parts sales.

1. For the first time the two brands were marketed together, with the launch of the Peugeot and Citroen Trade Team

2. Trade customers were given a single point of contact for all the Peugeot and Citroen parts requirements.

Bluegrasscoms were successful in winning the contract to provide the sales team behind this project.

We have a telesales team of 16 people who run this project, focussing the sales on a customer database of 10,000.

This highly trained and specialist team focus on providing excellent customer service and producing incremental parts sales of the independent motor traders that are on the programme.

Outcome:

Result from the first 3 quarters of the Peugeot and Citroen Trade Team have been extremely encouraging:

  10,000 customers registered as a Trade Team Pro
  Sales to these customers are up £2.4 million 11% year on year.

The objectives for 2016

  Increase the database of customers to 12,000
  Sales to these customers to hit £31.6 million
